JAKARTA, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Three tourists, including two foreigners, were killed and dozens of others injured as quake-triggered landslides struck a tourist resort in Lombok island of Indonesia's West Nusa Tenggara province, a local disaster official said on Monday.
The natural disaster took place in Tiu Kelep waterfall tourist resort in Senaru village of Lombok Utara district in the province after the shallow quake jolted the areas, senior official of disaster management agency in the province Agus Nugroho Rahardjo said.
Two of the killed foreign tourists were Malaysian nationals who were visiting the resort along with 38 others Malaysian visitors, and another killed tourist was Indonesian citizen, said Nugroho.
The landslides trapped a total of 35 visitors including Malaysian tourists and all of them have been rescued safely. Twenty visitors were badly injured and dozens of others sustained minor injuries, said Nugroho.
Most of the seriously injured suffered broken bones. All of them have been rushed into a nearby hospital, he told Xinhua over phone.
Elsewhere in the Lombok island was undergoing reconstruction and rehabilitation after a series of strong quake last year. Scores of houses were damaged with scores of people sustaining minor injuries, he added.
The quake was centered at 24 km northeast of Lombok Timur of West Nusa Tenggara province with a depth of 10 km, according to the meteorology and geophysics agency.
