XINING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Georgios Bouglas from China's Ningxia Sports Lottery Livall Cycling Team (NLC) won the first stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake on Sunday.
The Greek rider took the stage in a time of 3 hours, 56 minutes and 5 seconds, to be awarded both the yellow jersey and green jersey, representing the overall leader and best sprinter respectively.
"I think I made a good performance on the first stage of the two-week Tour, and the most difficult part is in the middle of this stage, but I kept on, and managed to sprint at the end," said Bouglas, who joined NLC last year.
Ozgur Batuhan and Balkan Onur from Turkey's Torku Sekerspor (TRK) came second and third in this stage.
Li Zisen, from China's Qinghai Tianyoude Cycling Team (TYD) was presented with the blue jersey that represents the best Asian rider.
The first stage from Ledu to Xining covers a total distance of 162 km, with two intermediate sprints set in 96.91 km and 148.52 km respectively.
The second stage Xining circuit race will be contested on Monday.
